A new website.
Well, it's been a little over a year since my last redesign, and I finally get to unveil v4 of benkrogh.com. I'm proud of a lot of the work I've done over the past year, and feel like launching a new site is a fitting end to 2013 and a great beginning to 2014.
This time, I've decided to do a few things differently, namely in development. On my last site launch, I designed a very simple site and coded the html and css structure. My friend Nathan made that into a wordpress theme, and later my friend Josh went through and made it responsive.
This time, I've coded the whole thing myself, with lots of help and explanation along the way. I wanted to make a site that I needed to constantly upkeep to continually learn more about front-end development. I'm incredibly grateful to Josh Rounsville for answering my many questions about responsive design and teaching me many tricks of the trade.
I also have been blogging so infrequently that I found it fitting to remove wordpress altogether. I will now write posts in my favorite text editor and simply add another static page for each post. Sounds like a lot of work, but in the long run, writing posts this way fits my needs more than monkeying around in Wordpress. So, here's to 2014 and a new website, I'm looking forward to learning and discovering the whole way through.
